ArtsLIVE in Ventura County

The purpose of the ArtsLIVE in Ventura County grants program is to highlight the depth and breadth of the arts produced in Ventura County, with an emphasis on art programming produced by- or for- youth, seniors, and traditionally underrepresented groups. The grantees in both the arts organization and the individual artist programs have designed projects that will engage people in the arts to demonstrate how the arts can address their issues, enhance the lives of the people they serve and their communities, help them meet their organizational mission and/or individual artist goal, and strengthen the arts in the county.  Preference was given to projects that demonstrate a plan for using the grant to raise the visibility of the proposed project or program and the organization’s work to leverage additional funds and donor support for the arts in Ventura County.

The 2009 Grants to Nonprofit Organizations Program focused on Visual, Media and Literary Arts.  A total of $90,000 will be awarded to 16 nonprofit organizations for projects that enhance the arts and community and encourage art produced by residents of Ventura County.

The 2009 Artists in Community Partnerships Grants Program, administered by the Ventura County Arts Council, supports artistically excellent and culturally significant art projects that have clear benefit to and the involvement of the community.  More than $30,000 will be distributed to 8 Ventura County artists who bring leadership and creative problem solving skills to the partnership with their community group.
