Farmworker Housing Fund > Grants Recipients/Receptions

VCCF’s Ventura County Fund For Farmworker Housing supports efforts to preserve, enhance and increase the supply of decent, safe, sanitary and affordable housing for agricultural workers in the County. Since the establishment of the Fund in 2004, VCCF has distributed a total of $228,500 in grant funds to local nonprofit organizations.

Spring 2004 Grants

  • Cabrillo Economic Development Corp – $1,000 to support the 2004 Farm Worker Housing Summit.
  • Ag Futures Alliance Farm Worker Housing Task – $45,000 to facilitate the production of new farm worker housing units in Ventura County through community education, dialogue and local action.
  • Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County – $30,000 to support the cost for the construction of two 3-bedroom homes in the city of Oxnard at the Villa Cesar Chavez development.
  • Cabrillo Economic Development Corp – $52,500 to support pre-development costs, providing 24-units of affordable farm worker family rental housing in the City of Santa Paula. This grant is a recoverable grant based upon the close of the construction loan. 

Fall 2004 Grants

  • Cabrillo Economic Development, Corp – $75,000 for a recoverable grant to be used as a deposit on land acquisition for Casa Campesina, an affordable housing development for farm workers. Grant was returned because project did not prove feasible.
  • Ventura County Community Foundation – $12,500 to support grant writing and future fund development for the Ventura County Fund for Farmworker Housing.

2007 Grants

  • Ag Innovations Network – $1,000 to support the Kris Kristofferson Benefit Concert in Feb. 2007.
  • Cabrillo Economic Development Corp – $86,500 as a recoverable grant to cover predevelopment expenses for architecture design, civil engineering, and green building consultation as related to both the Citrus Place and Piru farmworker housing projects in East Ventura and Piru, producing 18 and 66 rental units respectively.
