Partner with Others
Partnering with others opens the door to building
community while sharing the work that needs to be
done. At VCCF we offer a number of ways to work
together to strengthen Ventura County and respond
to the challenges we see around us:
VCCF Field-of-Interest Funds
Women’s Legacy Fund
Annual grants to support programs that serve
the unique needs of women and girls throughout
the county.
Destino: The Hispanic Legacy Fund
Annual grants to address the needs of the county’s
Latino community, supplemented by grants from
the Latino Literacy Initiative, the Destino
Scholarship Fund and the work of the Destino
Business Council.

Community Response Fund
A fund that focuses on the key needs facing the
community. Recent grants have included strategic
planning and helping nonprofits in transition,
supporting nonprofits that address the concerns of
the elderly, disaster planning for those serving
vulnerable populations, strengthening mental health
program training, and basic services.
Special and Urgent Needs (SUN) Fund
Grants up to $5,000 each to nonprofits facing a
special and urgent need – either unanticipated
problems or opportunities. Grants are usually
funded within the month.
Disaster and Recovery Funds
When disaster strikes in the county, or around the
world, the Community Foundation gathers funds
from donors and ensures they are directed to
organizations making a difference.
Arts Funds
VCCF provides support to arts organizations
through donor-established arts funds.
Farmworker Housing Fund
Provides grants to expand the supply of affordable
housing for farmworkers in the county and to
educate the wider community regarding the
growing needs of farmworkers.

Scholarship Funds
VCCF scholarship funds include countywide
support for student leaders (Scholarship Fund for
Ventura County); for those entering directly into
the workforce (Vocational Scholarship Fund);
forgivable loans for nurses committed to working
in Ventura County (Medical Education Fund); or
individual funds set up at the discretion of the
donor to support a school, an academic
discipline or a specific priority.

Social Justice Giving Circle
Launched in 2006, this donor -
advised fund engages donors through
the giving circle model to support
grassroots groups working for social,
economic and environmental justice.
Mental Health Initiative
A priority for 2006, VCCF’s unrestricted funds
allocated support for bereavement counseling
for high schools students and paraprofessional
training to expand a supply of skilled workers
as well as highlight estate planning vehicles to
support families grappling with mental illness.
A second cycle is set for 2007.
Children’s Health Initiative
Working with community leaders across many
disciplines, this effort (through a CHI steering
committee) is exploring ways to improve the
health of the county’s children by expanding
access to healthcare insurance and direct
services.
