Haitian Earthquake Relief

All of us have been moved by the suffering arising from the devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake in Haiti, and by the worldwide effort to assist the victims of the disaster with basic needs for survival. At VCCF, we believe that donations made directly to organizations that are providing assistance and relief will be the most efficient and effective way for donors to assist those who are struggling and suffering – and we thus encourage donations directly.

Here are links to the following organizations that are playing a role in the crisis, a small list of the many organizations around the world that are stepping up to the task of assisting the Haitian people in these hours of great need:

Please check these sites to determine where funds donated to Haitian relief will be deployed, whether for immediate assistance or longer term rebuilding and relief. VCCF does not specifically endorse any of these organizations or their specific efforts, but shares access to their websites for further education of donors about ways to provide immediate assistance in this tragedy.

Texting HAITI to 90999 on your cellphone will result in a $10 donation to the American Red Cross, which will show up on your phone bill.

When the immediate humanitarian crisis has abetted, we will review ways that VCCF and the local donor community in our region could assist with rebuilding efforts, or strengthening the institutions that will be needed for Haiti and its residents to rebuild their lives and their country. Any donations to VCCF, or the VCCF Disaster Fund, will be directed to the appropriate agency responding to the immediate needs.
