Hugh Ralston
Ventura County Community Foundation

Since 2003, Hugh Ralston has served as President & CEO of the Ventura County Community Foundation, where his primary responsibilities include leading the organization through a period of rapid growth in size, program and scope. Assets are recovering to $100 million, with $4.9 million in grants and scholarships distributed in 2009. He brings over fifteen years experience in nonprofit board leadership and volunteer service at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Los Angeles Master Chorale, the Huntington, Music Academy of the West and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the Autry Museum. Prior to joining VCCF, he was the Executive Director of the Catholic Education Foundation in Los Angeles and spent sixteen years working at Security Pacific National Bank and J.P. Morgan & Co., Inc. He is a cum laude graduate of Amherst College and has a MALD from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

He currently serves on the board of trustees of Scripps College, Southern California Grantmakers, Community Arts Music Association of Santa Barbara, the Workforce Investment Board of Ventura County, the Community Foundations National Standards Board and serves as the treasurer of the League of California Community Foundations. He is also vice chair of the Community Commission of Ventura County. Active in choral music, he has attended the Berkshire Choral Festival, the Tallis Scholars Summer School and participated in international tours with Mastersingers USA, who won the male choral competition at the Eistedfodd in Llangowellyn, Wales in 2003. He is an ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church.
