Since we met last month, exciting work has taken place behind the scenes! We couldn’t be more grateful to share this brief update with you today and look forward to sharing more details with you very soon.<\/p>\n\t
For starters, last week, we submitted a joint funding request for $65 million to the State of California, aiming to address crucial infrastructure needs for early childhood education in our region. This collaborative effort involved partnerships with the Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County and the Santa Barbara Foundation, as well as several key organizations throughout our region.<\/p>\n\t
In Ventura County, our funding proposal reflects the visionary leadership of Child Development Resources, First 5 Ventura County, Ventura County Office of Education (VCOE), and local school districts. While it will take many months before we know the outcome of our joint request, and much work will take place between now and then, we feel great optimism by the shared vision put forth from all involved.<\/p>\n\t
In the near future, we will each have an important opportunity to participate and to assist in this collaborative effort. By writing letters of support and uniting our voices, we will collectively make a meaningful impact on this process by demonstrating the strength of our community in advocating for early childhood education. Collectively, the more letters are submitted on behalf of an initiative, the more important it becomes!<\/p>\n\t
Several additional important efforts are also in progress, one of which involves raising funds to provide stipends for students pursuing early childhood education at California State University, Channel Islands. This financial support would enable students to serve as student teachers in Santa Paula to help address our workforce shortage for early childhood educators.<\/p>\n\t
Additionally, efforts are being made to address the need for affordable housing for teachers within our community. Several sites have been identified and we are grateful for the leadership by the County of Ventura in this regard.<\/p>\n\t
We are also working to solidify the plans for the financial investment in promotoras to engage local families in the Isabella Project.<\/p>\n

This past semester, five CSU Channel Island students collaborated with VCCF and the Isabella Project for a communication project on creating engaging and informative content aimed at educating parents of Santa Paula about the Isabella Project. As there are conversations that are taking place between Early Childhood and TK-12 systems, it has been quite obvious that we may be speaking the same concepts with different languages.<\/p>\n\t
This document was created thanks to the leadership of Ventura College to capture the nuances of our educational fields in one spot and can be used to help translate or code switch to enhance our conversations. It is a tool for us to use to bridge our systems together.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tView the Document\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n Gov.
