Senior Concerns, a private nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the senior community, received a $35,000 grant from Ventura County Community Foundation (VCCF) to help complete building repairs needed as a result of severe rain in 2017. Located in Thousand Oaks, Senior Concerns provides a comprehensive scope of services including an Adult Day Program for seniors with cognitive or physical impairments, Meals On Wheels in Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park, a Caregiver Support Center, Senior Advocacy, pro bono legal and financial services, information and referrals, and community education on aging\u2019s challenges and opportunities.<\/p>\n
\u201cMany of the seniors we serve are especially frail and have special needs, and their safety and well-being is our primary concern,\u201d explained Andrea Gallagher, Senior Concerns president. \u201cOur building is 25 years old and after the heavy rain last year, needed numerous repairs. The allocation of funds from our operating expenses to cover the repairs, along with the lost revenue from a three-week closure of the Center to complete the work, had a significant, negative fiscal impact on our organization. We are grateful to receive financial support from VCCF.\u201d<\/p>\n
Senior Concerns\u2019 wide range of programs are aimed at creating a positive aging experience for family caregivers and for all adults in the community. The funds provided through VCCF will come from the E. Wright Daly Fund to support activities or programs in the field of health services to Ventura County residents.<\/p>\n
