While Black Friday may kick off the holiday shopping season, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.givingtuesday.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Giving Tuesday<\/a> starts the charitable season.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 651px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wholewhale.com\/tips\/givingtuesday-stats-and-facts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.wholewhale.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/image-1.png?resize=1024%2C586&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"https:\/\/www.wholewhale.com\/tips\/givingtuesday-stats-and-facts\/\" width=\"641\" height=\"367\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">In 2016, $168 million was raised on Giving Tuesday. Whole Whale is predicting that over $200 million will be raised this year.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Started in 2012 by the team at the\u00a0<a id=\"\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.92y.org\/Center-for-Innovation.aspx\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Belfer Center for Innovation &amp; Social Impact<\/a>\u00a0at the\u00a092nd Street Y, Giving Tuesday has been a movement to encourage and celebrate philanthropy, connecting individuals, communities and organizations around the world. Giving Tuesday was founded with the same ideas as our community foundation\u2014that every individual can make a difference; that by harnessing the power of collaboration, we can have a larger, more profound impact and do more good.<\/p>\n<p>This Tuesday, add your voice and your story to the movement. Give back\u2014give something, whether it be your time, a donation, or just your voice encouraging others to give as well.
