Ventura Blvd.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur last day to occupy the space is Dec. 31, 2019,\u201d Cushing wrote. The Chamber has been at the location since 1999.<\/p>\n<p>The Chamber will be moving to the Ventura County Community Foundation building at 4001 Mission Oaks Blvd.<\/p>\n<p>Cushing said Chamber officials have a \u201chandshake\u201d deal to lease office space on the first floor of the building, which also houses a number of nonprofits.<\/p>\n<p>Although Cushing didn\u2019t say how much the Chamber\u2019s lease will be in the new building, he said the new location will be less expensive than the lease at the Ventura Boulevard building.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe got approached about a year and a half ago about possibly moving there,\u201d he said Tuesday. \u201cThe situation just seemed right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>City Councilmember Shawn Mulchay, who with Councilmember Charlotte Craven belongs to a council liaison committee to the Chamber, mentioned the organization\u2019s lease termination at the council\u2019s May 29 meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt wasn\u2019t on the agenda as there wasn\u2019t anything to discuss or take action on,\u201d Mulchay said by email this week. \u201cThe Chamber of Commerce unilaterally chose to terminate the lease utilizing the termination clause.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Chamber was leasing the city-owned building on Ventura Boulevard for $18,444 a year. City officials said they have no immediate plans for the building.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not actively seeking offers to lease the building at this time,\u201d City Manager Dave Norman said in an email. \u201cThe City Council needs to determine what it wants to do with the building\u201d in relation to Camarillo\u2019s other plans for the Old Town district.<\/p>\n<p>The Chamber\u2019s lease termination further reduces its ties to the city, which last month agreed to a second one-year contract extension with the Chamber to continue providing marketing and promotional services for the city, but not without caveats.<\/p>\n<p>Chamber officials had sought a new five-year deal with the city, but council members approved the shorter contract term, saying they wanted more information on what benefits the Chamber provides the city in exchange for a $70,000 annual services fee.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the city is moving to hire a new economic development director, who will be asked to provide the council with an analysis of the contract agreement with the Chamber and provide recommended changes.<\/p>\n<p>Among a list of the services included in the agreement: The Chamber is required to staff and maintain the Camarillo Visitors Center, distribute relocation information to businesses and residents seeking to move to the city, organize ribbon-cuttings for new businesses and hold an annual State of the City address.<\/p>\n<p>Council members said they wanted a clearer understanding of what the Chamber\u2019s role will be going forward.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":9139,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"give_campaign_id":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[22],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-9138","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-latest-coverage"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/vccf.org\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/9138","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/vccf.org\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/vccf.org\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/vccf.org\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/vccf.org\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=9138"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/vccf.org\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/9138\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/vccf.org\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/9139"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/vccf.org\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=9138"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/vccf.org\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=9138"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/vccf.org\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=9138"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
