California Resources Corp. recently made donations totaling $40,000 to three local organizations and the Thomas Fire Benefit Festival to provide support to families and businesses affected by the fire.

“CRC believes strongly in supporting our communities where we work and live,” said Todd A. Stevens, CRC’s President and CEO, who personally handed the relief funds to each of the three representatives and offered our support. “The wrath of the Thomas Fire impacted everyone in Ventura County – some more than others. The men and women of CRC are dedicated to assisting Ventura County as we come together to rebuild and recover.”

CRC presented $10,000 checks to the Ventura County League of United Latin American Citizens, the Tri-Counties Building & Construction Trades Council and the Ventura County Community Foundation. Additionally, CRC provided a $10,000 donation to sponsor the Thomas Fire Benefit Festival held in downtown Ventura.

Through VC LULAC, CRC is assisting several displaced farmworker families in Santa Paula and the reconstruction of their neighborhood playground. CRC is also helping the Building & Construction Trades Council; three of its retiree members lost their homes and 30 members were displaced. The funds will assist with temporary living arrangements and supplies. The Ventura County Community Foundation created a fund dedicated to match critical services directly to fire victims’ needs that may not appear right away; the CRC funds were provided for long-term relief.

“Never has our county seen such devastation as we have from the Thomas Fire. Likewise, we’ve never seen our community’s corporate sector come together with such generosity to help rebuild and heal — a process that will take years. California Resources Corp.’s leadership in our community’s recovery is inspirational as well as impactful. We are so grateful for their generous support,” said Vanessa Bechtel, president and CEO of the Ventura County Community Foundation.
