(Thousand Oaks, Ca) This Friday, November 16, 2018, students and families in Thousand Oaks and nearby cities will come together in support of the community still reeling from two devastating events; The Borderline Bar & Grill mass shooting in which 12 people lost their lives, followed by the Southern California Wildfires which evacuated a quarter of a million people and ravaged nearly 100,000 acres.

“The idea for The Most Epic Lemonade Stand Ever was born out of a sincere desire to do something to help our friends and neighbors affected by the events of the past week,” said Shannon Atkins of Westlake Village, California.

Three school districts – Conejo Valley, Las Virgenes, and Oak Park – have announced they will remain closed until after the Thanksgiving holiday in order to ensure all campuses are clean, safe and conducive to learning. “Our kids are going to be out of school for a few weeks, so preparing for the fundraiser is a great use of all that energy,” noted Mollie Valestrino.

Students and their families are working together to create and sell home-made lemonade, baked treats and craft projects. And there will be an art station set up for kids to create thank you notes to first responders.

This is a community effort. Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Reality Brokerage offered their property to stage the sale (2860 Thousand Oaks Blvd, Thousand Oaks, CA 91362). And several local businesses have donated baked goods including Sprinkles Cupcakes, Sweet Arleen’s and Cookie Conundrum, and coffee is being donated by Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.

“There has been such an enormous outpouring of support at the shelters; residents have donated massive amounts of clothing and supplies for evacuees and animals,” added Emma Howells. “We’ve been told that what is most needed now is funding to help the families rebuild. So we are asking for the financial support of our community.”

Proceeds from the Most Epic Lemonade Stand Ever will benefit the Ventura County Community Foundation – split between the Conejo Valley Victims Fund and the Hills Fire and Woolsey Fire Sudden and Urgent Needs Effort.
