It\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/losangeles\/news\/why-southern-californias-wildfire-season-has-been-so-bad-this-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">spread rapidly<\/a><\/span>\u00a0after sparking Wednesday, Nov. 6, tearing through\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fire.ca.gov\/incidents\/2024\/11\/6\/mountain-fire\/updates\/ba306527-d5a1-4fa6-bc66-c41510c9d2c3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">more than 20,000 acres<\/a>\u00a0within two days. While\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vcoes.maps.arcgis.com\/apps\/dashboards\/e15ca0d2737d43cea6514043e61f1a7c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">many evacuations remain in place<\/a>, some are being allowed to return as firefighters make progress amid improved weather conditions \u2014 containment had\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fire.ca.gov\/incidents\/2024\/11\/6\/mountain-fire\/updates\/febba9fd-505f-4e14-8325-6d82c94fdfef\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">reached nearly 50% Tuesday<\/a>\u00a0morning.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a community meeting at Rancho Campana High School in Camarillo at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, where local authorities will give updates on firefighting efforts and offer residents resources for recovery and rebuilding efforts.<\/p>\n<p>More information on the meeting\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vcemergency.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">puede consultarse aqu\u00ed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While Cal Fire has reported six injures, Ventura County authorities have said at least 10 were wounded, some from smoke inhalation while a\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/losangeles\/news\/camarillo-church-becomes-overnight-shelter-provides-evacuated-families-with-meals-and-beds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">Red Cross spokesman<\/a><\/span>\u00a0said evacuees at a shelter had suffered burns and scrapes while trying to escape.<\/p>\n<p>In the particularly hard-hit Camarillo area, several people have found their homes completely destroyed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I never thought in my wildest dreams this would be the last time I would be standing at my house,&#8221; Jamie Randall, who lives in the foothills of Camarillo,\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/losangeles\/news\/camarillo-homeowners-return-to-burned-homes-after-devastating-mountain-fire\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">said upon returning<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<h2>How to find help if you&#8217;re affected<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The city of Camarillo and county of Ventura are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/CountyOfVentura?ref=embed_page\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">opening a local assistance center<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 where residents can find information and resources to help with recovery \u2014 on Thursday, Nov. 14 at the Ventura County Office of Education Conference Center, located at 5100 Adolfo Road in Camarillo. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Emergency food assistance is being offered to wildfire victims at a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/foodshare.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">drive-thru Foodshare Distribution center<\/a>\u00a0that will be open Wednesday, Nov. 13 at College Park, which is located at 3250 S.
