Toda la comunidad de la VCCF est\u00e1 muy orgullosa de vosotros, entre la superaci\u00f3n de los retos personales y el crecimiento m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de los contratiempos de la pandemia de Covid-19. Es un honor para la VCCF, nuestros numerosos y generosos donantes que hacen posible esta ayuda, y los voluntarios de nuestro comit\u00e9 de selecci\u00f3n de becas, estar a vuestro lado, mientras trabaj\u00e1is para alcanzar vuestros sue\u00f1os educativos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>No podemos dejar de recalcar lo orgullosos que estamos de todos vosotros y de todos vuestros logros, \u00a1y estamos deseando ver lo que os depara el futuro!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nuestro comit\u00e9 de selecci\u00f3n<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Estamos inmensamente agradecidos por la dedicaci\u00f3n de nuestro comit\u00e9 de recogida de becas. Esta temporada, nuestros incre\u00edbles voluntarios leyeron m\u00e1s de 6.000 solicitudes de 980 candidatos. De media, cada voluntario ley\u00f3 60 solicitudes, lo que suma un total de miles de horas colectivas trabajando para ayudar a nuestros estudiantes a alcanzar sus sue\u00f1os acad\u00e9micos. In the last 11 months, our major goal has been to\u00a0take\u00a0a\u00a0closer\u00a0look\u00a0at\u00a0the\u00a0systems\u00a0we\u00a0use\u00a0to\u00a0administer\u00a0this\u00a0program\u00a0and\u00a0work\u00a0to\u00a0improve\u00a0and\u00a0streamline\u00a0those\u00a0systems and related processes, as the program continues to grow each year. We want to be able to scale this work and give our team more time to be in the field recruiting new partners and broaden our application pool. One of the biggest changes we made was to really leverage our technology to lighten the administrative burden of this program, and it has paid off!!! We are now using our online scholarship platform to confirm scholarship awards and collect required paperwork from students. This simple change has not only saved many, many trees, but staff time, postage and scholarship processing time. In July 2023, we were able to process and mail more than 100 scholarship checks to colleges and universities throughout the country. This is a huge improvement over the past years. The other priority we are working on is a \u201cdeep dive\u201d audit on our scholarship portfolios. I want to send a very special thank you to my partner in this work, Tracy Tagawa, VCCF\u2019s Compliance Director. While at times it felt like were drinking from the firehose, we stuck together, learned a lot, and at times and laughed out loud after finishing each other\u2019s sentences. Finally, I want to thank another fantastic partner in this work, our Scholarship Coordinator Emily Marostica, who started with us in January. Emily picked this work up in no time, and her database knowledge is incredible. She comes to work each day with a smile and a can-do spirit, and I am so thankful for her partnership in this work.
