Ron Helus, the Ventura County sheriff\u2019s deputy killed in the Thousand Oaks shooting. Each raffle ticket is $50 with the chance to win a barbecue worth more than $2,999. All proceeds will be given to the Helus family. The raffle ends Dec. 15 and the winner will be announced Dec. 16. Donations can be made\u00a0at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vccf.org\/donate\/\" data-track-label=\"inline|intext|n\/a\">https:\/\/vccf.org\/donate<\/a>. You can donate to it by texting \u201cUWVC\u201d or \u201c2018fires\u201d to 41444 or visiting\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedwayla.org\/en\/give\/disaster-relief-fund\/\" data-track-label=\"inline|intext|n\/a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.unitedwayla.org\/en\/give\/disaster-relief-fund<\/a>.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"p-text\"><strong>Chabad of the Conejo:<\/strong>\u00a0A distribution center will serve those impacted by the Woolsey and Hill fires. The center, at 30345 Canwood St. in Agoura Hills, is collecting items to be distributed. Organizers are hoping to collect gift cards, children\u2019s gear like strollers and high chairs, clothing that is new or in good condition, phone chargers, toiletries and hotel or motel vouchers. Hilton Foundation,\u00a0Amgen Foundation,\u00a0California Community Foundation\u00a0and city of Thousand Oaks, is collecting money for families, law enforcement and organizations providing support victims of the Borderline Bar &amp; Grill shooting.\u00a0To donate, go to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vccf.org\/\" data-track-label=\"inline|intext|n\/a\">www.vccf.org<\/a>\u00a0or call Bonnie Giles at 805-330-6681.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"presto-h2\">Events<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p-text\"><strong>Tuesday, Nov. 20:<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.islandsrestaurants.com\/\" data-track-label=\"inline|intext|n\/a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Islands<\/a>\u00a0will donate 20 percent of sales from its five local restaurants to the United Way disaster relief fund. The proceeds will go toward those affected by the Hill and Woolsey fires. To participate, visit the Agoura Hills, Newbury Park, Simi Valley, Northridge or Canoga Park locations between 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\"><strong>Wednesday, Nov. 21:\u00a0<\/strong>Denny&#8217;s in Moorpark will donate 100 percent of pre-tax sales from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. to Ventura County Community Foundation to help those affected by the Woolsey Fire. Denny&#8217;s is at 832 New Los Angeles Ave., Moorpark.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\"><strong>Saturday, Nov. 24:\u00a0<\/strong>&#8220;Boots for Borderline&#8221;\u00a0will feature a parking lot filled with food vendors when it takes place from 1 to 7:30 p.m. at the Sunland Vintage Winery tasting room, 1321 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Suite A-108, Thousand Oaks. The winery and vendors will donate 100 percent of profits to families affected by the shooting, with guidance from the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\"><strong>Now through Nov. 27:\u00a0<\/strong>The Westlake High School Choir students have been participating in a fundraiser selling athletic shoes to raise money for their various choirs. After the\u00a0Borderline shooting and Hill and Woolsey fires,\u00a0the students decided to give 100 percent of their fundraising proceeds to the fire and shooting\u00a0victims through the Ventura County Community Foundation.\u00a0To support the students&#8217; fundraising efforts,\u00a0visit www.liveinertia.com\u00a0and click on the WHS Fundraiser tab.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\"><strong>Now through Nov. 30:<\/strong>\u00a0At the combined Fatburger \/ Buffalo&#8217;s Express\u00a0site\u00a0in Thousand Oaks, 10 percent of all sales now through November will be donated to a victims&#8217; fund overseen by the Ventura County Community Foundation. The restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily at 650 N. Moorpark Road.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\"><strong>Saturday, Dec. 1:<\/strong>\u00a0&#8220;Little Shop of Horrors&#8221; Singalong Benefit,\u00a0Newbury Park High School Performing Art Center,\u00a0456 N. Reino Road.\u00a0Event is free. Cash donations and funds collected from the sale of food and refreshments will be given to the Ventura County Community Foundation for the benefit of families of the Borderline shooting\u00a0and those displaced by the wildfires. Doors open at\u00a06 p.m.; performances begin at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\"><strong>Saturday, Dec. 1:<\/strong>\u00a0CKO Kickboxing in\u00a0Simi Valley is holding a &#8220;Punchathon&#8221; fundraiser in honor of Borderline victim\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vcstar.com\/story\/news\/local\/2018\/11\/16\/friends-and-family-say-goodbye-veteran-killed-mass-shooting\/2007076002\/\" data-track-label=\"inline|intext|n\/a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dan Manrique<\/a>. Donations of any amount will be accepted for\u00a0the 90-minute class\u00a0though\u00a0CKO typically offers a &#8220;bag&#8221; or spot for $20. Doors open at 9 a.m., class starts at 9:30 a.m. and a celebration of Manrique&#8217;s life will follow.\u00a0The gym will also have food and raffle prizes for those not taking\u00a0the class.\u00a0CKO is located at 2955 Cochran St., Simi Valley. 805-210-5880.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">Nationally, CKO gyms aim\u00a0to raise $50,000 for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamrwb.org\/\" data-track-label=\"inline|intext|n\/a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Team\u00a0Red, White and Blue<\/a>. Manrique, a Marine Corps veteran,\u00a0recently had been hired as a program manager for the nonprofit Team RWB,\u00a0which connects veterans to their communities\u00a0through physical and social activities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\"><strong>Friday, Jan. 12 and Saturday, Jan. 13:\u00a0<\/strong>REO Speedwagon will perform a\u00a0pair of benefit concerts at Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza\u2019s Fred Kavli Theatre. All proceeds from the concerts will go to the Ventura County Community Foundation, which has set up funds for those impacted by the Borderline Bar &amp; Grill shooting and Woolsey and Hill fires. REO\u00a0Speedwagon had already been scheduled to perform at the Kavli Theatre on Jan. 12 but added the Jan. 13 concert and turned both into events to benefit the community. Tickets for the second show went on sale Thursday at noon.
