{"id":23242,"date":"2025-07-30T14:41:57","date_gmt":"2025-07-30T21:41:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vccf.org\/?p=23242"},"modified":"2025-07-30T14:41:57","modified_gmt":"2025-07-30T21:41:57","slug":"special-comment-local-institutions-team-up-on-neighborhood-support-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vccf.org\/ja\/special-comment-local-institutions-team-up-on-neighborhood-support-fund\/","title":{"rendered":"Special comment: Local institutions team up on neighborhood support fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacbiztimes.com\/2025\/07\/28\/special-comment-local-institutions-team-up-on-neighborhood-support-fund\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u3053\u306e\u8a18\u4e8b\u306f\u30d1\u30b7\u30d5\u30a3\u30c3\u30af\u30fb\u30b3\u30fc\u30b9\u30c8\u30fb\u30d3\u30b8\u30cd\u30b9\u30fb\u30bf\u30a4\u30e0\u30ba\u7d19\u306b\u63b2\u8f09\u3055\u308c\u305f\u3082\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A coalition of businesses, nonprofits, local governments and educational institutions across Ventura County is creating a fund to support families and businesses facing one of the most disruptive years in recent decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ventura County Neighbors Support Fund will operate in partnership with the Community Foundation to blunt the effects of recent immigration raids and natural disasters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In announcing the fund on July 28, VCCF said the County of Ventura, Ventura County Office of Education, Economic Development Collaborative, Ventura County P-20 Council, Weingart Foundation, Ventura County Economic Development Association, Ventura County Credit Union, Museum of Ventura County, Isabella Project Montecito Bank &amp; Trust, Premier America Credit Union, County Schools Federal Credit Union, McCune Foundation and others agreed to support the fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe well-being of our residents is at the heart of everything we do at the County of Ventura,\u201d said Dr. Sevet Johnson, Ventura County Executive Officer. \u201cBy mobilizing trusted local organizations to provide direct relief, this fund helps stabilize families and safeguard the essential services that sustain our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs the son of immigrants and now Ventura County\u2019s Superintendent of Schools, I carry with me the stories, sacrifices and dreams of families who came here seeking a better life,\u201d said Dr. C\u00e9sar Morales. \u201cThe Ventura County Neighbors Support Fund is a powerful reminder that we are not powerless.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTime and again, the Ventura County community has come together in the face of hardship,\u201d said Vanessa Bechtel, president and CEO of VCCF. \u201cGiven the scope of the challenges at hand, we\u2019re responding in a way that meets uncertainty with compassion and resolve. Our message is clear: no neighbor stands alone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement, VCCF said the fund was designed to jump start school attendance, which has fallen by double-digits, help nonprofits cope with overwhelming demand and help small businesses hit by workforce disruptions, stabilize their operations.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEconomic stability depends on the well-being of our workforce and the health of our local businesses,\u201d said Bruce Stenslie, president and CEO of EDC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cI applaud VCCF for establishing this fund to support our community during these challenging times,\u201d said David Newman, mayor of Thousand Oaks in the statement.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>VCCF said that 100% of the money raised will go to the fund to provide food transportation and emergency supplies to families, emergency shelter and rental assistance, schools, neighborhood centers, affected businesses and nonprofits and other needs that arise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is the beginning of a long arc \u2014 not just a response, but a commitment,\u201d said Pedro Chavez, mayor of Santa Paula.
