Thousand Oaks-based biotech giant Amgen\u2019s charitable arm announced that it would allocate $2 million of its $12.5 million in global COVID-19 pandemic relief funds to organizations in Ventura and Los Angeles counties.<\/p>\n
The funding will go toward nonprofits such as food banks, health clinics, education and elderly care services, among others, the Amgen Foundation said April 28.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important than ever for the business community to work arm in arm with our local partners who are providing mission critical services and support to individuals who have been devastatingly impacted in our neighboring communities,\u201d Amgen Senior Vice President Judy Brown said in a news release.<\/p>\n
The Ventura County Rapid Response Fund, Conejo Free Clinic and Simi Valley Free Clinic, FOOD Share, United Way of Ventura County, Ventura County Community Foundation and Channel Islands YMCA are among the tri-county organizations that will receive funding.<\/p>\n
In addition to the $12.5 million commitment, the company has said it will match donations made by its global staff members.<\/p>\n
