s\u00edtio Web<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\nTitle Boxing Club of Newbury Park is hosting a fundraiser Dec. 9 to benefit the Conejo Valley Victims Fund, money which is going to support the families affected by the Nov. 7 shooting at Borderline Bar and Grill.<\/p>\n
Between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. Sunday, for every $5 donation, participants can spend three minutes with one of the Title\u2019s professional trainers learning boxing fundamentals, including proper stance, punching combinations and footwork.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe best part? No one gets hit!\u201d Title Boxing general manager Lisa Oliver said in an email.<\/p>\n
Oliver said 100 percent of the proceeds raised during the event will go to the victims\u2019 fund, which is being managed by the Ventura County Community Foundation.<\/p>\n
Title\u2019s team of trainers includes world-ranked professional Golden Gloves champion boxers, professional and amateur MMA fighters and kickboxers, who will be donating their time Sunday to provide participants \u201can opportunity to knock out stress, anxiety and grief experienced in our community in recent weeks,\u201d Oliver said.<\/p>\n
Last month\u2019s shooting hit the Newbury Park boxing gym hard, Oliver said. Dan Manrique, a longtime Title member, was among those killed.<\/p>\n
\u201c(Manrique) is the impetus for this event,\u201d said Thor Skancke, a former MMA champion and Title Boxing trainer. \u201cHe was a true hero who ran into the building to help others and then lost his life.\u201d<\/p>\n
