In the aftermath of the deadly shooting at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, many were left wondering how to help victims and their families.

Ventura County Sheriff’s officials said 12 people were killed in the mass shooting, including a sheriff’s sergeant. The gunman also was found dead inside the bar.

Sgt. Ron Helus and a California Highway Patrol officer were among the first officers at the scene, according to Sheriff Geoff Dean.

Dean said Helus was struck multiple times by bullets. Helus later died at Los Robles Regional Medical Center, a choked-up Dean said at a news conference early Thursday.

Here is a list of ways to help, which will be updated as more information becomes available.

How to help:

• Blood donations are being accepted for patients in critical condition, particularly donors with O negative. Call 877-25-VITAL to make an appointment.
• A verified GoFundMe campaign has started for the victims of the shooting. Funds raised will be collected by the Rotary Club of Westlake Village, a registered 501(c)3. Learn more here: https://www.gofundme.com/borderline-shooting-victim039s-fund.
• A Conejo Valley Victims Fund has been established at the Ventura County Community Foundation. All the proceeds will go to victims and their families, said Thousand Oaks City Manager Andrew Powers. To donate go to https://vccf.org/.
• Ameci Pizza & Pasta at 1724 E Avenida De Los Arboles in Thousand Oaks agreed to donate 100 percent of proceeds to the Borderline victims Nov. 14. Call for more information 805-493-2914
• The Sunland vintage Winery Tasting room in Thousand Oaks will host a fundraising event from 1 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4 for the families of the victims of the Borderline Bar & Grills shooting. The event called, “Boots for Borderline,” will feature entertainment, food vendors and wine. Sunland and the food vendors will donate all profits that day to the cause. They will also be collecting donations for the families impacted by the shooting. The tasting room is at 1321 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Suite A-108, in the Northstar Plaza. The event will take place both in the tasting room and in the parking lot. For more information, call 805-379-2250.
• Chabad of the Conejo has opened a distribution center for those impacted by the Woolsey and Hill fires. The center, at 30345 Canwood St. in Agoura Hills, is collecting items to be distributed to those impacted by the fires. They are hoping to collect gift cards, children’s gear like strollers and high chairs, new or in good condition clothing, phone chargers, toiletries and hotel or motel vouchers.
