#BecauseYouGave 2020 – VCCF Scholarships
Dear Friends of VCCF,
Each year, we look forward to gathering with our community to honor our annual scholarship recipients and celebrate their academic achievements. This year, in light of COVID-19 and out of an abundance of caution, we have opted to cancel our annual scholarship reception, and have instead moved our program to a video format. While we are disappointed we will not be able to celebrate each student’s triumphs and create an opportunity to connect scholarship donors with students in person, we are excited to share two special videos with you all this year.
As a thank you to our scholarship donors, we asked each of our students to submit a photo or video sharing how the scholarship impacted them.
Their stories were truly moving. Each student shared their gratitudes, their hard work, their talents, and their academic dreams with us: from being the first-generation college student in their family, to being able to pay for textbooks, to attending their dream schools, to giving back to their community through their educational accomplishments, and more. We’ve compiled these amazing stories of impact into the video below as part of our #BecauseYouGave campaign.

TO OUR DEAR SCHOLARSHIP DONORS
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your commitment, generosity, and dedication to the students of Ventura County. Your continued support through the funds granted by your scholarships truly creates meaningful change for these students and is an investment back into our community. We wanted to find a way to thank you for all you do to make educational dreams a reality for so many students and we believe that the best ‘thank you’ is hearing directly from the students themselves.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT & CEO
As the President & CEO of the Ventura County Community Foundation, I have the great privilege of working with an exceptional team of talented and passionate professionals. Cristina Miranda joined our team last August as the new VCCF Scholarship Director. Her dedication and leadership this past year has been exemplary. A big thank you to her, Tara De Bortnowsky, Phylene Wiggins, and Jim Rivera for all their efforts supporting these hardworking and deserving students.
We would not be able to do this vital work without the VCCF Scholarship Committee. Thank you to all those who read scholarships and volunteered their time to make this program possible. Together, you helped award more than $1 million to our local students! Thank you so much!!
Best,
Vanessa
