Authorities said the gunman, a hooded Marine combat veteran dressed in all black, opened fire during college night at the Borderline Bar & Grill, a country bar in Thousand Oaks.

A veteran Ventura County sheriff’s sergeant, who was the first officer to go inside the bar amid the gunfire, was among the dead.

The motive for the attack is under investigation.

Over 200 people lined up outside La Reina High School in Thousand Oaks on Thursday to donate blood after a mobile blood donation unit parked outside the school. It was expected to remain there until at least 2 p.m. on Thursday, and will also return on Friday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

You can also donate to a fund to support the victims at vccf.org/donate, which was set up by the Ventura County Community Foundation, in coordination with the city of Thousand Oaks, California Community Foundation, Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, Amgen Foundation and others.
