Mountain Fire Resources for Ventura County

This article was originally published by #LAtogether.

On November 6, a fast-moving wildfire ignited near Moorpark following robust Santa Ana Winds. The fire has burned over 20,000 acres and destroyed more than 130 homes, forcing over 10,000 residents in Ventura County to evacuate.

While firefighters have made progress at 91% containment, wind advisories have been issued for this week, and local community needs are expected to continue growing.

How to Help

For fundholders and donors interested in supporting response and recovery efforts, the Ventura County Community Foundation (VCCF) has established an emergency fund in partnership with the County of Ventura.

The Ventura County Wildfire Relief and Recovery Fund will support individuals and nonprofit organizations that provide essential aid to those most affected by the Mountain Fire. One hundred percent of contributions to the Fund will go directly towards relief efforts, and supporters can learn more about the Fund here.

You can also give to CCF’s Wildfire Recovery Fund that is focused on supporting long-term solutions to ensure communities are better prepared for future wildfires.  CCF fundholders who wish to support these efforts through their donor-advised fund may make grants directly on DonorConnect.
