New Chairman Named Community Foundation

A Wells Fargo Bank official has been named interim board chairman of the Ventura County Community Foundation.

Scott Hansen, 48, of Ventura, succeeds Gary Erickson, who has relocated to the San Diego area. Hansen said he was appointed last fall to serve as interim chairman of the Camarillo-based foundation until Erickson’s term ends in September.

In his post at Wells Fargo, he serves as the regional managing director of wealth management for the Santa Barbara and Westlake Village markets

The community foundation manages charitable funds and provides grants and scholarships. The organization reported almost $88 million in net assets in its latest financial report to the Internal Revenue Service. Over the past year, the foundation distributed more than $4 million in grants and assistance, including scholarships and aid to several hundred local organizations, officials said.

Looking ahead, Hansen sees growth for the foundation that has been dealing with a variety of financial problems.

“My singular thought is to put VCCF back on the path to being the community leader in philanthropy,” said the UC Santa Barbara graduate. “We have an opportunity to take on an even bigger role.”

Board member Charles Maxey said Hansen has the professional expertise and community service for the job.

“His volunteer involvement with numerous nonprofits in the region, including ours, provides him a special insight into the needs of our community,” said Maxey, a professor in the School of Management at California Lutheran University.
