SPUSD Parent Conference Highlights
On November 19, 2022, the Santa Paula Unified School District hosted the Parent Conference at Isbell Middle School for parents to learn about how they can become involved in their children’s education and enroll their students in early childhood education. The topic of this bilingual event was “Excel on Education” and coincided with International Children’s Day on November 20.
Among other local nonprofits, VCCF also attended the event, with President & CEO Vanessa Bechtel, Isabella Project Co-Chair Dr. Gabino Aguirre, and VCCF’s International Fellow Thanyathip Chatsawat present. Dr. César Morales, Ventura County Superintendent of Schools and supporter of the Ventura County Community Foundation’s Early Childhood Education Initiative, also gave a powerful speech about the importance of parents’ and guardians’ involvement in their students’ education.
The event also featured music and folklorico dancers, as well as childcare for parents in attendance.
