VCCF Disaster Relief Update
Dear Ventura County Community Foundation Family,
I pray you’re safe and well amid our local tragedy. It is difficult to comprehend the ongoing devastation that is sweeping our region, but thankfully, we live in a generous community and are working together to ease suffering and support rebuilding.
Earlier this week I wrote to inform you that the VCCF contributed $477,000 to the Red Cross and the Salvation Army. Today, I’m excited to share good news–we have identified another $200,000 to seed long-term relief and rebuilding efforts, and we have three different funds to help short-term response and longer-term recovery efforts. Please see the attached news release for complete information on those.
And our latest developments from yesterday and today are more cause for hope and gratitude. We are excited to be finalizing major retail and corporate partnerships to generate cash contributions for the relief funds, and we have launched text-to-give—VCRelief to 50155—to augment our online giving campaign at www.vccf.org. This text-to-give feature gives people an opportunity to contribute directly from their mobile phone to the number 50155 and typing VCRelief (not case sensitive) to give to the Ventura County Community Disaster Relief Fund via text.
I will keep you posted about this progress as you and our entire VCCF family contribute to the comfort of our neighbors and friends who have lost so much.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Sincerely,
Vanessa
