Wells Fargo Commits $800,000 to Help in Thomas Fire and Mudslide Recovery Efforts

VENTURA, Calif. – Wells Fargo & Company announced Wednesday that it will award $800,000 to help in the recovery efforts related to the Thomas Fire and Montecito mudslides. $250,000 will be immediately awarded on Friday, March 16, to four nonprofits at the company’s Mobile Response Unit (MRU) Community Day event.
“We want businesses, team members, and our community at large impacted by the Thomas Fire and mudslides to know that we are committed to helping the region recover,” said Ernie Pineda, Wells Fargo’s Central Coast region bank president in a press release.
Pineda says that the $800,000 contribution exemplifies Wells Fargo’s commitment to the community.
Wells Fargo Mobile Response Unit Community Day is Friday, March 16 at the Pacific View Mall in Ventura. $75,000 will be granted to the Women’s Economic Ventures (WEV), Ventura County Community Development Corporation, and Ventura County Community Foundation, and $25,000 will be granted to Food Share, Inc. According to a press release, the remaining $500,000 will be distributed to nonprofits in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties as plans and programs are developed over the next couple of months to address current and emerging community needs.
“Community Day is an opportunity for residents, elected officials, and nonprofits to come see the MRU and learn first-hand what we’re doing to help our community recover,” said Gabriela Mello, senior community relations consultant at Wells Fargo.
Wells Fargo’s MRU is a multi-functional, heavy-duty commercial vehicle created to assist customers impacted by a disaster. Wells Fargo says that they MRU is designed to bring answers and valuable information directly to the community regarding how to begin the personal recovery and rebuilding process. The MRU is best described as an “office on wheels” with multiple private offices and computers.
Wells Fargo Mobile Response Unity Community Day is Friday, March 16 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Pacific View Mall; 3301 East Main St, Ventura, CA, 93003.
